Hospital Guidelines

Estimates

  • We understand there are often financial concerns related to the care of a pet. For this reason, we provide an estimate prior to all procedures or tests.
  • VMS collects a deposit when the estimate is presented. The balance is due at the time of discharge from the hospital.
  • We also offer Care Credit as other payment options. Visit http://www.carecredit.com/ to determine if you pre-qualify.
  • Please feel free to call for a current invoice at any time during open hours of operation.

Visits

  • If your pet is hospitalized, we encourage visitation.
  • VMS visitation hours are between 12 pm and 3 pm.
  • Please call ahead so we can arrange a time for the visit.
  • For visits after 5 pm, or on the weekend, contact the Animal Emergency Hospital of North Texas, 817-410-CARE (2273). The emergency clinic recommends evening visits after 6 pm.

Personal Items

  • We encourage you take all personal belongings home, including collars, blankets, bedding, leashes, carriers, toys and other personal items.

Phone Calls

  • We generally return phone calls within 24 – 48 hours during the work week, depending on urgency.
  • If your pet requires immediate care and you are unable to reach a doctor at Veterinary Medicine Specialists, please contact your primary care veterinarian directly.
  • The Animal Emergency Hospital of North Texas is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week if your pet needs emergency care.

Prescription Refills

  • It is best to call 1 week in advance for a refill request.
  • Prescription refills require a minimum of 24 hours.

Case Summary

  • We send a complete case summary to your primary care veterinarian following your pet’s stay with us. This will include any diagnostics performed, treatment recommendations and follow-up protocol.

Discharge

  • All discharges are scheduled and should occur during VMS hours of operation. Otherwise, please inquire about after-hour discharge options. Please call to schedule a discharge or visit. No unscheduled arrivals or visits please.

Other Onsite Clinics

  • AEHNT and DVSC cannot give test results or medical recommendations for patients of VMS D/FW.
