VMS DFW Case Study

Megan first began seeing the internal medicine specialists at VMS in 2009 for an immune attack against her platelets.

After years of successfully managing this disease with medications and routine checks of her blood, Megan was then found to be anemic.  Abdominal ultrasound revealed a tumor growing in her stomach wall. Meanwhile, Megan had also developed an enlarged heart due to abnormal heart valves.

Prior to surgery to remove the tumor from her stomach, Megan was evaluated by our cardiologist. Her heart disease was able to be managed and surgery was successful.  She was later diagnosed by the cardiologist with pulmonary hypertension, which is also being treated with medication.

Megan continues to live a full, cherished life at the amazing age of 15, thanks to a partnership between the VMS doctors and her dedicated owners.  Megan is adored by all the staff at VMS for her gentleness and amazing spirit.
